He who belittles and despises his neighbor lacks sense,
but a man of understanding keeps silent.
Proverbs 11:12
These words jumped off the page at me today.
Why? Because I have an opinion on just about everything.
And, when given the opportunity, I share it.
I say that not proudly,
As I am learning that I need to keep some things to myself.
After all, I'm sure the Lord wants to change some of my 'opinions'.
When situations and people are contrary to what I think is right,
It's so easy to voice my opinion.
This is not necessary.
"A man of understanding keeps silent."
And so it is my prayer today
To be a better listener without having to speak my mind.
I want to be known as a "woman of understanding"
And let God do His work in His timing, without my help (gasp). =)
So, pray for me!
That I may get out of His way.
That I would love and let Him judge.
That He might be glorified.
Because of Jesus,
Eunora
I hear you on this! Sometimes I swing to the other side and think, "If I don't say something, do they think I am agreeing with them?" I'm glad you shared, because that verse answers my question. :)
ReplyDeleteI do the same. Needing to practice the listening ear. =)
DeleteThere is a time to be heard and a time to be silent. We all probably get this wrong at times :-). A lovely insightful prayer to share, Thank you.
ReplyDeleteTruly there are times when the Lord prompts one to speak. I need to wait for those promptings. =)
