Love and Respect Start With Me

And immediately all the crowd, when they saw Jesus
[returning from the holy mount, His face and person yet glistening],
they were greatly amazed and ran up to Him [and] greeted Him.
Mark chapter 9 verse 15

I've been working on teaching respect with my boys.
Respect for me, as their mother,
respect for each other,
so that they will learn to respect their God.
I'm trying to teach them scripture,
showing them that God commands that they
honor and obey their parents
that they may receive the many blessings He has planned for them.

Although I believe teaching the truth is good,
living it is even better.
Am I respectful toward them?
Am I respectful toward their father, my husband?
I love the verse I quoted above because,
"all the crowd, when they saw Jesus
[returning from the holy mount, His face and person yet glistening],
were greatly amazed and ran up to Him [and] greeted Him."
They loved and respected Jesus.
He didn't demand their respect.
He didn't punish them for not being respectful.
He was continually in fellowship with His Father,
He radiated God's goodness and love,
and "all the crowd, when they saw Jesus
[returning from the holy mount, His face and person yet glistening],
were greatly amazed and ran up to Him [and] greeted Him. "

Perhaps, as I focus on the Lord, spending time in His presence,
I will reflect His goodness and love.
And then, my children will be greatly amazed and run and greet me!

May love and respect in my home start with me.
Please change me, Lord Jesus!

Because of Jesus,
Eunora

  1. Uggggggggh....your post hit me where it hurts. I have been kind of... not so respectful to the hubs in front of the kids lately. I blame it on lack of sleep, but really I guess it's more of a lack of self control.
Thanks for the reminder and the verse.

  2. I LOVE this part: "Perhaps, as I focus on the Lord, spending time in His presence, I will reflect His goodness and love. And then, my children will be greatly amazed and run and greet me!" That is such a beautiful picture, and so challenging! I so want to reflect His goodness and love. Thanks for a great post!
