I'm Thankful!

I have so much to be thankful for!
I want to (hopefully weekly) share these things with you.

I'm thankful for...

... those who have and are serving our country!!!

Truly, I am so thankful for these men and women,
that my eyes well up with tears
as I think of the sacrifice many have
made and are making for us.

This is an amazing gift and I am truly thankful!

I'm Thankful!

I have so much to be thankful for!
I want to (hopefully weekly) share these things with you.

I'm thankful for...

... some time away!
Last week my husband and I were able to
get away for a few days.
How refreshing it was.
We relaxed, slept in, ate good food, read leisurely,
and were refreshed!
Yummy dessert crepes!
Indian flat-bread!
Mascarpone-stuffed French toast!

Yes, we did eat more than sugar, but those were the highlights. =)

I'm so thankful for times like these.
They truly are gifts from the Lord.
And, I'm so thankful for
everyone who helps to make it happen.
(my in-laws who usually have
our boys and take good care of them)!

... another newborn shoot!
I just love these!
Babies are so precious, and this little guy
was only 5 days new!

Isn't he adorable?!
You can see more of him on my photography blog:

That's what I'm thankful for this week, what are you thankful for?

I'm Thankful!

I have so much to be thankful for!
I want to (hopefully weekly) share these things with you.

I'm thankful for...

... an upcoming get-away!!

I have been MIA recently, I know.
We have just been so busy.
And really, I am even thankful for that.
As I look over my calendar and schedule
and see all that is before me,
I think of the alternative-
quiet, dull days etc.
and it makes me thankful for our full lives!

We've had school activities,
sports activities,
various celebrations,
photography opportunities,
and, and, and... =)
This has kept me hopping,
and away from this blog.

But, it's about living it, right?!
Not writing about it as much. =)
So, for now, I'm living it
and hopefully I'll be writing about it again.
Summer's a'comin'!
Oh Boy!

But, even in the midst of business,
God is so good!
I feel like we've been working hard for this week.
I am thankful to be joining my husband
on a business trip,
and my kiddos are excited to have
their own vacation at Grampa and Gramma's!
Yippee!  We're all blessed!

Because of Jesus,

I'm Thankful!

I have so much to be thankful for!
I want to (hopefully weekly) share these things with you.

I'm thankful for...

... for warm weather!!!
I can not express how thankful I am for this!
Clear blue skies, warm, even hot days, pleasant evenings-
this is my time of year!
As last week drew to a close, the weather changed from rain to sun.
On Friday morning, upon hearing the forecast,
I was almost giddy in anticipation of the warm day.
Tank tops, shorts, sandals.
I LOVE warm weather!

... my boys winning their games!
(and having so much fun playing them).

... my boys successfully completing their standardized testing.
This was an anxious task looming over them,
but they handled it like champs and now it is behind them.
Yeah!

... a wonderful Sunday morning at church!
Our church moved the services outside early this year.
We have a beautiful amphitheater
where we meet in the Summer months.
Sunday was perfect all around for a service outdoors.

God has been and is so good to me!
This is what I'm thankful for, what are you thankful for?

I'm Thankful!

I have so much to be thankful for!
I want to (hopefully weekly) share these things with you.

I'm thankful for...

... my family!
my husband and four boys!
We had a full weekend together-
Spring sporting games,
church,
gardening,
home group,
and....
there's a first time for everything, right?!

Taco Bell at 10:00pm!
What?!
Yup!

You see, our pastor mentioned the new
Doritos locos tacos in his message that night.
We loaded everyone into the car after the evening service
and soon discovered we were all hungry.
When our first taco stand was expectedly closed
We headed across town and...
yes, we did. We ordered our Taco Bell late night snack!
What made this even funnier
was seeing the head pop out of the car in front of us
and recognizing he too was at church with us.
Fun times!

That's what I'm thankful for, what are you thankful for?

I'm thankful for...

... a wonderful birthday and Easter weekend!

Yup, it was my birthday on Saturday, and then as you know,
Easter on Sunday.
I'm so thankful for a relaxing day with my family on Saturday.
Then on Sunday we celebrated Easter by enjoying a wonderful church service and eating away the afternoon.

Breakfast crepes,
church service,
turkey dinner,
cupcakes and ice cream,
presents,
Easter egg hunt...
what more could a girl ask for?!
Good times!

I'm Thankful!

I have so much to be thankful for!
I want to (hopefully weekly) share these things with you.

I'm thankful for...

... a beautiful memorial service for my Grandma!

This past weekend my family traveled up to Vancouver, WA
to participate in my Grandma's memorial service.
What a special time!
I learned new aspects of my Grandma's life that I did not know.
I listened to some of the many people
my Grandmother touched with her love.
I learned that when you place your life completely
in the Lord's will, as she did,
He will take you on an amazing journey!
I am so thankful that my Grandma
said yes to Jesus
and yes to showing His love to others.
I am who I am, in part, because of who she was.

That's what I'm thankful for, what are you thankful for?

I'm Thankful!

I have so much to be thankful for!

I'm thankful for...

... a fun weekend away with my husband!
We were blessed with an invitation to see Wicked!

This was such a great performance. I was so impressed with
many aspects of this play: the music, dancing, costumes, set- amazing.

If you ever have a chance to see this musical,
take the opportunity, it's worth it!

I'm also thankful to our family who made it
possible for us to go by watching our sweet boys.

As we were away on this mini-vacation,
I told my husband that although I don't want to live
for the next get away,
they sure are refreshing and much appreciated!

Well, that's what I'm thankful for, what are you thankful for?

I'm Thankful!

I have so much to be thankful for!
I want to (hopefully weekly) share these things with you.

I'm thankful for...

... my Grandma!

This past week, my Grandma left her earthly home
to meet her King in her heavenly home.
What a joyous time it must have been for her,
to see her Jesus face to face
and to be reunited with her beloved husband.

Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints.
Psalm 116:15

I am truly blessed to have been placed in a family
rich in Godly heritage.
My Grandma loved Jesus
and it shone through in all that she did.

These are some my personal memories that I am thankful for:

... making masa for pasteles.
When it was time to make pasteles, the women in the family
would gather around the kitchen table with graders and
bunches of green bananas.
Grandma would take the masa and create her amazing pasteles
along with her famous Spanish rice.
When informing my sons that Grandma went to heaven,
I was so pleased to hear my oldest son say,
"Wasn't she the one who made the good Spanish rice?!"

... foot massages.
My family had the opportunity to live with my Grandparents
for a season.
During this time, in my elementary years,
my Grandma and I would turn on a movie, sit on the couch,
and take turns giving each other foot massages.
She gave the best. massages. ever!

... watching her bring her two plastic containers
(0ne with curlers, one with clips).
to the coffee table to set her hair before bed.

... singing, singing, singing.
My grandma loved to sing and could often be found with
the newest baby of the family in her arms,
singing and bouncing the little one to the beat.
She also taught my son the song:
"I'm gonna run, run, run to see my Jesus."

... praying, praying, praying.
My grandparents could pray.
When you asked for prayer, you could count on your
request coming to the thrown of grace
through the fervent prayers of my grandparents.
Having a Pentecostal background, they knew how to pray!
Often in group prayers,
I had a hard time following who was leading the prayer,
as both she and my grandpa would be praying, right along. =)
They were talking to their King,
unashamedly, passionately!

Thank you, Jesus, for Grandma! Thank you for the life she lived for You.
Thank you for the opportunities You allowed me to share with her,
times that pointed to Your goodness and grace.
Thank You that she loved You and that love reached many people
to Your praise and glory.
I am one that benefitted from her heart devoted to You!
Thank You that You allowed her to be my Grandma.
I am thankful that You hold her safely, until we meet again.

I'm Thankful!

I have so much to be thankful for!
I want to (hopefully weekly) share these things with you.

So, this past weekend
I had the unfortunate experience of
having the stomach flu- ugh!

So why am I posting this on my 'thankful' post?!
Because the Lord allowed me to see
much to be thankful for even though I was feeling miserable.

I was so thankful for...

... the timing of when I got sick.
My husband had just returned from being
out of town on a business trip.
I also started getting sick on a Friday night
which meant he was home to help me on the weekend.

... my husband!!
He took care of me so well, attending to everything I needed.
He took care of our four boys.
He cooked, cleaned, and did laundry.
I'm so thankful he was home and willing to help out so much!

... time I spent lounging on a chair on my back porch,
soaking up the warm sun!
This is something I have wanted to do for awhile,
but never made time to do.

... the fact that I was sick in the time and place that I am.
This may seem silly, but I started thinking
(while sick in bed)
about the fact that everyone gets sick, throughout the history of time.
Can you imagine what this would have looked like
in the Medieval time period?!
I did, and let's just say,
I am so thankful for my clean, comfortable bed,
sanitary conditions, running water etc.

So, to sum it up, yup, I was bummed to be sicker
than I have been in a long time.
But, there was still much to be thankful for during this
unfortunate situation. =)

That's what I'm thankful for, what are you thankful for?

I'm Thankful!

I have so much to be thankful for!
I want to (hopefully weekly) share these things with you.

I'm thankful for...

... the weeks flying by. A few years back, this time of year
would drag on for me.
Now each week goes by so quickly!
Summer's comin' and I can't wait!

... upping my running miles and feeling good
during the whole run.

... sunny days! We've had a few and I love taking a few
moments from chores and responsibilities to
bask in the sun and enjoy the warmth it brings.

... a spontaneous shopping trip with a
super great friend (a rare treat)!

... prayer night tomorrow night.
I'm looking forward to meeting with other gals
to petition our loving Father for the relationships in our lives.

That's what I'm thankful for, what are you thankful for?

I'm Thankful!

I have so much to be thankful for!
I want to (hopefully weekly) share these things with you.

I'm thankful for...

... another Newborn Shoot!
I love when I have the opportunity to take pictures of tiny babies
fresh out of the oven!
What a miracle God performs every time a baby is born.
I am thankful when I can take in a small part of a new life.

... a sweet friend who watched my babies
so that I could take pictures of this one.

... in-laws who are willing to let me use their home for my studio.

Here's one of the pictures of this little one.

I have so much to be thankful for!
I want to (hopefully weekly) share these things with you.

I'm thankful for...

... a wonderful 'prayer night' last week!
It is so wonderful to get together with other gals and
talk to the Lord together.
Thank you to all of you who were able to join me!

... a fun craft afternoon with a sweet little friend.
Thank you, Miss Emily, for creating with me!

... Iced Coconut Mochas!!! Call me crazy, but I LOVE this drink!
When I think about going through the Dutch Bros. drive thru,
I get a little excited.
Small treats can make your day, can't they?!

That's what I'm thankful for, what are you thankful for?
